By Water Taxis departing from Kaiteriteri to Awaroa

The coastal trip to Awaroa is a unique, picturesque and relaxing ninety minutes with stops along the way to check out the wildlife, the famous Split Apple Rock, to drop off and pick up walkers from the Abel Tasman track.

When booking let them know you’re staying at a private bach at Awaroa.

Both Wilsons Adventure and Abel Tasman Sea Shuttle regularly depart from Kaiteriteri during summer with a limited timetable during the winter months.

By Water-taxi departing from Marahau to Awaroa

The Awaroa drop off point is Awaroa Front Beach – by arrangement depending on the tide we can pick you and your luggage up.

Aquataxis shuttles only upon request can drop you off inside the inlet at high tide only.

By Car 

Arriving Awaroa by car is a typical non-stop three hour drive from Nelson to Awaroa Carpark road end (no exit DOC land)

The Totaranui and Awaroa Roads are unsealed and subject to slips, the Road is not suitable for campervans, caravans or longer vehicles.

There is limited cell phone coverage on the Totaranui and Awaroa Roads.

You’ll need to park your car at Awaroa Car park as there is no direct access to the cottage or house. We take no responsibility for your car if you park at the DOC car park.

It’s an easy 40 minute walk across the estuary to Awaroa settlement at low tide, you will get wet feet!

By prior arrangement we can pick you and your luggage up, by Quad bike and trailer at low tide or by dinghy at high tide – there is a cost for this service.
